Catford Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Catford Man and Van has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious global issue and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our business dealings.
Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced or compulsory labour. Catford Man and Van is dedicated to ensuring that these abuses have no place in our services, including removals, transport, storage arrangements and any related support functions.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Catford Man and Van has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with any individual, contractor or organisation that is involved in or connected with these practices. This commitment applies to our own operations and to the suppliers and subcontractors who support our services.
All individuals working on behalf of Catford Man and Van, including employees, agency workers and subcontracted personnel, are expected to uphold our values and comply with this Statement and any associated internal policies. Any breach or suspected breach is treated seriously and may result in the termination of working relationships or contracts.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Standards
Our supply chain includes subcontracted drivers and porters, vehicle hire and maintenance services, fuel and equipment suppliers, packaging providers and other operational and professional service partners. We recognise that these relationships carry potential risks relating to labour practices.
We require suppliers to operate in full compliance with applicable labour, employment and human rights laws. As part of our onboarding and ongoing relationship management, we communicate our expectations that suppliers must:
• Prohibit forced, bonded or involuntary labour in any form.
• Prohibit child labour and exploitative working conditions.
• Ensure fair pay, working hours and conditions in line with local laws.
• Respect the right of workers to work freely and leave employment by choice.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To help ensure compliance with our zero-tolerance approach, Catford Man and Van undertakes proportionate checks and monitoring activities with suppliers and subcontractors. These may include:
• Initial due diligence before engagement, including background checks where appropriate.
• Periodic reviews of supplier performance and labour practices.
• Requests for information relating to working conditions, right-to-work checks and recruitment practices.
• On-site visits, where relevant and feasible, to observe working conditions.
Where concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to address and remedy issues within clear timeframes. If concerns are not resolved satisfactorily, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Catford Man and Van encourages all employees, workers, suppliers and customers to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking in connection with our business. Concerns may include suspicious behaviour, working arrangements that appear coercive, or any indicators that someone may be at risk of exploitation.
Reports can be made to line managers or senior management within the business. Individuals raising genuine concerns will not suffer any retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up. All concerns will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly, with appropriate actions taken where required.
Training, Awareness and Accountability
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks among our team. Managers and staff with responsibility for recruitment, supplier selection and daily operations are expected to understand the signs of exploitation and the steps to take if concerns arise. Responsibilities for overseeing this Statement and related procedures sit with the companys leadership, who ensure that anti-slavery considerations are integrated into decision-making and risk management.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every twelve months, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, our business structure or risk profile. As part of the annual review, we will assess the effectiveness of our current measures, consider feedback from stakeholders, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Catford Man and Van is committed to strengthening its approach over time, including enhancing supplier due diligence, improving staff awareness and refining our reporting and escalation processes. By maintaining a proactive stance, we aim to reduce the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains and to contribute positively to the wider effort to eradicate these abuses.
